March 12th is the annual Arbor Day. In order to raise students’ awareness of environmental protective, so that they’ll take care of the plants in the campus and create a green school together, Meilian Experimental School, CCNU No.1 Middle School launched the activity of Science Week for all the first-graders from March, 11th 2019 to March, 15th. The activity combined both the knowledge sharing and practical investigation of plants, and could be divided into two parts: knowing plants and making “ID Cards”. During the process of sharing knowledge, the science teacher introduced the varieties and characteristics of plants in the school, and then the students used their break time to identify and observe plants, and found the plants they wanted to make “ID card” for under the teacher’s guidance.

Under the guidance of teachers, students created many excellent works by consulting data and designing independently. The “plants’ ID cards” designed by children were colorful and different in shape. Some were like dancing butterflies, and some others were like fallen leaves in the wind, lively and lovely. Each ID card wrote a detailed introduction to the plant. Some careful students would also write “Take care of plants, everyone has the responsibility” on the card.

By hanging “ID cards” for the plants in the school, children only enhanced their understanding of various plants in the school, but also planted a seed of environmental protection in their hearts. Thus, they can take care of flowers and trees inside the school, and become an environmental guard.
